[We talked about her recently!] Well it turns out that she is a member of an artist collective known as My Dreamy Star, which features fantasy and furry art on any number of useful objects like key-chains, pillows, and t-shirts (as well as more traditional items like art prints and stickers). Among the other artists on paw is Hollulu, well-known across the Internet as the animator of a series of music videos for the band The Mystery Skulls. Light and Shadow

RH Potter is an artist from the Pacific Northwest — one who is known for her very distinctive style of line and color. She describes herself as: “An illustrator and storyteller. The two are intertwined for me; storybook and cover illustrations are my first love, with comic art and animation coming a close second. I love the deceptive simplicity of the Zen aesthetic and of Japanese and Chinese calligraphy, the crisp clean lines of ink on paper, shapes and pattern. I don’t like telling people what they should see in my work; I believe that every piece should tell its own story without outside interference.” On her web site you’ll find lots of her designs available as prints, stickers, and even custom tattoo designs!

Cover Your Face — Or All The Rest of You!

The artist known as Jillor has made quite a name for herself designing, creating, and even repairing full-body fur-suits. So popular is her work that (as you can see from her web site) her commission docket is full up from now through 2018! Interesting side note though: She also has an entire other web site dedicated to her feral dance masks as well. Each and every mask is custom designed by Jillor (under the name Mercury Pale) for the wearer.

Art Is Healing

Bazteki is an original artist who paints in a watercolor style. Here’s what they have to say about what they do: “Art is healing. Each work is a physical record of that healing taking place. Each animal represents a different energy and they are called on as needed. Art is play, and as it is with all play it is a wonderful way to learn how the universe works. Hopefully by sharing this work, a bit of what has been learned can be shared with others.” Their web page has examples of their work and more information about purchasing.

The Wizard and His Cat

Speaking of Keenspot: Thomas Fischbach, creator of the Ursa Major Award winning on-line comic Twokinds, brings us into the creation of his realm with the release of The Art and Evolution of Twokinds — newly available in hardcover. “Deluxe full color hardcover artbook exploring the art and evolution of Twokinds, the wildly popular webcomic following the adventures of a lone mage with no memory of his past and the beautiful tiger girl that captures his heart.” Nearly 100 pages in full color. Be warned though: Keenspot says they’re going fast!

Hound Dogs and Otters and Bears, Oh My!

Hollie Hibbert was born to be an artist, she says at her web site. “Growing up in Idaho, crayons, colored pencils, and markers were her most loyal companions. However, the thought of becoming an artist never crossed her mind until college. She has a big soft spot for hound dogs, otters, and especially bears.” To that end she has created fine art prints, theater posters, and also fan art works. She has even illustrated several books for young readers, all of which have anthropomorphic interest: An Orphan No More (a story of adoption) by Jerry Windle and Jordan Windle, The Three Bears ABC (which uses the classic fairy tale to teach the alphabet) by Grace Maccarone, the Dolphin School series by Catherine Hapka, and Pupunzel (you can guess!) by Maribeth Boelts.

It’s Time For A Rescue!

Ha Huy Hoang is a freelance animator and character designer who signs his work with the name Splendid River. Over at his web site he has many samples of his work, and also a short trailer for Rescue, a 2D animated film he is working to complete. A chubby wolf must discover his inner hero when an evil monster kidnaps the love of his life — a pretty mushroom. Yes. Also for sale at the web site are his books of character design sketches, Toontastic and Animatoon.

Never Possum on the Right

Here’s an artist who also puts things quite simply: “Justin Hilden is an animator and illustrator based in Los Angeles. He loves possums and Scandinavian pastries.” Based on the former at least, Justin created an animated short film called Oh Possum, which can be viewed on his web site. There you will also find an extensive essay about his creative process of dreaming up the possum brothers, Switch and Ellsworth, and bringing them to life through animation. You can also see episodes of The Roadents, a series about two gophers on a road trip that Justin created for Bix Pix Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television.

Art Must Be Done

Karen Krajenbrink describes her job quite succinctly: “I do art.” Going into perhaps a bit more detail, she elaborates: “Associate Art Director at a mobile gaming company by day, freelancer by night. I’ve worked in games, film, and TV for art direction, visual development, character design, story, pipeline creation, BG paint, prop design, and technical pitches.” Add to that one more achievement: In 2015 she completed her first illustrated children’s book called Fox & Boots, “… a 24 page story about friendship, love, and loss, illustrated in full color.” It’s available at her store, along with her sketchbook and several art prints. [Let us wish you all a Happy and Safe New Year in 2017!]
